Food Cart Pods in Portland, Oregon
6 Great Food Truck Pods: Portland Suburbs Edition
Portland, Oregon is known for great Food Cart selections and you don’t always have to go into Portland to find them! There are many great solo food carts out in the suburb areas, but below are a couple of delicious pods of Food Trucks in Portland Suburb areas, including food cart pods in SW Portland, Beaverton, Oregon City, Happy Valley, and West Linn.
Having lived just outside of Portland for many years, I am always looking for cool, trendy places, that aren’t a 30+ minute drive away. If you want some more trendy places, check out this list of coffee shops all located just outside of Portland!
Food carts are a great, low stakes place to grab some food and a drink in a casual environment. They are excellent places to meet some friends, so everyone can grab something they want, even the picky eaters.
Most food cart pods are very kid and animal friendly as well, making Food Cart Pods a great place to meet coworkers for lunch, a large friend group get together or a great family night. (The only thing I would note for families is that you will have to make individual purchases at each cart you want to get something from.)
Below are 6 great options of different Food Cart Pods surrounding the Portland area:
1. French Quarter – Multnomah Village (SW Portland)
Multiple carts, with varying hours. Includes vegan and beer carts, walk to Multnomah Village as well. Some tables are covered, some are not.
In the winter months, there is a fire pit set up. Even with the fire pit, because of the limited seating that is covered or heated, the French Quarter is best in the warmer months.
Not only does Multnomah Village have a lively food truck pod, it was many other great restaurants and shops.
Find out more with my post about spending an afternoon in Multnomah Village!
2. Hillsdale Food Cart Park (SW Portland)
With a few picnic tables and 4-5 carts to choose from, Hillsdale Food Cart Park is small, but a great family destination, especially if you live in the Hillsdale area.
My favorite is the bubble tea from the Thai cart. Super basic bubble tea, but always hits the spot for me.
This is cart park is located right on the edge of the Ida B. Wells High School campus. I wouldn’t recommend coming here on the weekdays during school hours. Especially if you are caught there during the lunchtime, you might have to fight off wards of high school students. I recommend visiting this cart park on the weekends, in the evenings, or anytime during the high school’s summer break.
3. BGs Food Cartel (Beaverton)
BGs offers a large amount (20+) of carts to choose from, including a vegan cart, and beer/cider house.
Located in Downtown Beaverton with plenty of picnic tables and seating, most not covered, but a couple are covered by the bar area.
They have a small/medium indoor area with a bar and more tables. They also have a pop up axe throwing area inside, as well.
BGs is the largest of all the options on this list. Because of the sheer size of this food cart park, BG’s is great for large groups and kids. Pets are welcome as well.
4. Corner 14 Food Carts (Oregon City)
Beer/cocktail house, with an assortment of around 12 carts, including a vegan cart and occasionally some live music.
With the brick and mortar Corner 14 bar inside seating and mini fireplaces at picnic tables and covered seating make Corner 14 enjoyable in the winter time as well!
Perfect for large groups, families, pets, and more, there’s much to love about Corner 14.
5. Happy Valley Station (Happy Valley)
Fully covered carts with plenty of picnic table seating. A large amount of taps with beer and wine. A great place for large groups and families, especially those who live out on the East side.
Happy Valley Station offers a variety of events and markets. They have a Facebook page with their various activities listed!
The inside is fully covered, so Happy Valley Station is the best winter option of the list. They have rows of carts on either side and a pavilion in the middle. The pavilion is featured with large garage style doors so they can be open or closed depending on the weather.
Only service animals are allowed inside, so this isn’t the most pet friendly food truck park.
6. Willamette Garage (West Linn)
Located right off of 10th street in West Linn, the Willamette Garage features a tap house and cocktail bar with about 8 carts to choose from.
Great picnic tables with covered seating. The inside seating is limited, but outside is covered and has heaters and fireplaces for the winter.
Hosts events like trivia and live music, check out their social pages for more information!
